👋 Hello, I'm Laura

👋 Hello, I'm Laura

I'm a localisation engineer, language technologist, and tech tinkerer based in Lancashire, UK. I work at the intersection of language, automation, and technology—with a soft spot for ethical innovation, decentralised infrastructure, and making things a little more human.

By day, I modernise and future-proof localisation workflows using the latest technology and LangOps principles. By night, you'll probably find me experimenting with self-hosted tools, building out my little Fediverse of services, translating something obscure, or reorganising my digital world like a very nerdy magpie.

🧭 Now (as of November 2025)

  • 🛠️ Working as a Localisation Engineer, balancing hands-on engineering with modernising localisation workflows using AI, MT, and automation
  • 🌍 Expanding my self-hosted Fediverse hub — Matrix (with bridges + Maubot), Nextcloud, Ghost, Mastodon, Pixelfed, and PeerTube all happily running
  • 🧠 Learning: exploring MLOps concepts, and deep-diving into LangOps AI workflows
  • 🌸 Enjoying: rose-scented everything, barre workouts, long riverside walks, and my two cats 🐾 Jem & Scout
  • 💬 Thinking a lot about: ethical AI in localisation, decentralised tech, digital sovereignty, and peaceful living 🌿
  • 📚️ Reading: see my current reading list below ✨

I’m gradually replacing Big Tech with self-hosted and federated tools — so this space will keep evolving 💜
